Bulk Distribution Equipment and Standards

Promotes safety in the design, manufacture, operation, and maintenance of bulk distribution equipment for industrial gases, cryogenic liquids, and related products.

Carbon Dioxide

Enhances industry safety through the development and/or revision of safety publications that relate to the carbon dioxide industry. Provides guidance to government regulators in the creation of rules and regulations. Encourages standardization within the carbon dioxide industry, i.e., specifications for carbon dioxide and standards for related equipment in order to enhance safety, quality and productivity.

Cylinder Specifications

Dedicated to developing and promoting gas container safety and usage standards, safe practices, and sound manufacturing practices for the gas industry. The Committee encourages compliance with regulatory and industry principles related to gas containment. Our members include gas container manufacturers, independent inspection agencies, gas manufacturers, regulatory agencies, equipment manufacturers, and other members of the gas industry.

Cylinder Valve

Promotes safety within the industry related to valves and their inlet and outlet connections, (excluding pressure relief devices) which may be used on cylinders, and other containers. Responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and publication, of standards, technical and safety bulletins that detail the design and application. Cooperates with governmental agencies, ISO, other standards organizations, and other committees within the CGA to resolve issues pertaining to cylinder valves and connections.

Distribution and Fleet Safety

Keeps current of the rules and regulations regarding hazardous materials and other transportation matters that affect the members of the Association; provides a forum to study driver safety and operation, and to exchange information on the operation of transportation equipment; coordinates with other standing committees in the exchange of pertinent information; recommends actions to be taken by the Association and CGA member companies on matters pertaining to Transportation; provides input to the preparation of the Association's response on transportation matters; ensures that matters of interest and concern relating to various modes of transportation are covered adequately; takes other actions as may further the mutual interest of the members in matters that concern transportation and transportation safety.

Emergency Response

Maintains the mutual aid network, improve the capability and safety of emergency responders, and share best practices in dealing with the CGA member company products and provide the emergency services or agency at the scene with the technical advice, expertise, equipment and/or manpower.

Environmental

Considers environmental matters of direct concern to the compressed gas industry that are of a technical, regulatory, and standardization nature and report Safety and Environmental Advisory Council, Technical and Safety Standards Council, other committees, or to the Board as required or appropriate.

Food Gases

Promotes safe practices and encourage compliance with regulatory and industry principles related to food and beverage gases.

Hazard Communication

Develops appropriate recommendations on matters concerning hazard communications related to compressed gases, cryogenic liquids, and other related hazardous materials.

Hazardous Materials Codes

Interfaces with the model Fire and Building Code organizations to identify issues affecting the industry and foster the principles of the Compressed Gas Association in the code development process.

Hydrogen Technology

Promotes safety by facilitating the generation of classification guidelines and standards for pressure vessels and other shipping containers (manufacturing, use, and requalification), associated appurtenances, and storage and filling systems used in metal hydride and alternate hydrogen fuel technologies.

HYCO

Develops positions and publications to address the safe operation of plants producing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and synthesis gas (commonly known as HyCO Plants) and related materials affecting the compressed gas industry.

Industrial Gases Apparatus

Works to improve safety in the area of the applications and use of compressed gas equipment and systems, and addresses and responds to issues involving the safe use of compressed gas equipment.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas

Promotes industry consistency by providing product and safety information to producers, marketers, and users of liquefied petroleum gases through uniform, standardized technical and safety guidelines and standards for the transportation, equipment, containers, filling, storage, and handling of these gases.

Medical Equipment

Promotes safe practices and encourage compliance with regulatory and industry principles related to medical equipment which utilizes and/or delivers a medical gas.

Medical Gases

Promotes safe practices and encourage compliance with regulatory and industry principles related to medical drug and device gases.

Natural Gas Technology

Promotes safe practices and encourage compliance with regulatory and industry principles related to compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Process Safety

Coordinates the identification, development, and communication of management system best practices related to process safety and risk management in the compressed gas industry. Provides guidance on PSM information needed at industrial gas facilities.

Safety and Health

Promotes improved personnel safety and health practices among the Association members through exchange of information, compilation of statistics, and other appropriate educational programs. Promote improved process safety and risk management among the Association members through identification, development, and communication of management system best practices. Create and review CGA publications and recommendations, where appropriate, so they are consistent with acceptable standards on safety and health practices. Provide advice and service to and/or receive assignments from the Standards Council, other standing committees, and the Association's staff regarding safety and health in the manufacture, transportation, storage, use, and disposal of the gas and equipment products of the member companies.

Security

Helps to protect people, property, products, processes, information and information systems by enhancing security in the compressed gas industry. Addresses security issues that are relevant to the compressed gas industry by interfacing with other CGA committees and relevant trade organizations and regulatory government agencies.

Specialty Gases

Promotes safety and technical knowledge with regards to the manufacture, packaging, transportation, and use of specialty gases across various industries including chemical process, semiconductor, environmental, etc. Works closely with other CGA committees, governmental agencies, and national/international standards organizations.
