This publication was prepared to identify and describe the various acceptable Acoustic Emission Test (AET) methods that can be used in lieu of hydrostatic test in the water jacket to retest certain tubes as mandated by CFR 49, Part 180, Subpart C and Transport Canada regulations. Included are both pneumatic and hydrostatic methods of AET. Definitions, test procedures, use of special equipment, and instrumentation specifications are also included.
