Includes systems using PSA and membranes for nitrogen production, PSA and VSA for oxygen production and catalyst-based oxygen removal systems for nitrogen purification. Discusses potential hazards, including asphyxiant properties of oxygen-deficient atmospheres, ability of oxygen-rich atmospheres to accelerate combustion, noise, electricity, rotating equipment and gases under pressure.

Systems using cryogenic technologies for producing nitrogen, oxygen, or both are covered in CGA P-8.
