CGA S-1.1 is the definitive standard for the selection of the correct pressure relief device that is required to meet the requirements of the US DOT in 49 CFR 173.301(f) for over 150 gases. It provides guidance on when a pressure relief device can be optionally omitted, and when the use of a pressure relief device is prohibited. It provides direction and guidance on the manufacture and testing of pressure relief devices as well as the operation parameters and maintenance.
