International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

CGA participates in the U.S. Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and serves as an ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG Administrator.

U.S. positions developed by ANSI-Accredited U.S. TAGs shall be developed in accordance with applicable antitrust and competition laws, and meetings amongst competitors to develop U.S. positions are to be conducted in accordance with these laws.

U.S. TAG Membership

"Membership shall be open to all U.S. national interested parties who indicate that they are directly and materially affected by the activity of the U.S. TAG, after being informed concerning U.S. TAG working procedures and scope of activities." U.S. TAG member responsibilities include providing comments and input to formulate a consensus U.S. position on draft standards, agenda items, and work items.

ISO/TC 58, Gas cylinders
SCOPE: Standardization of gas cylinders, their fittings and characteristics relating to their manufacture and use. The scope does not include cryogenic vessels, aerosol cartridges and large transportable gas containers. (The primary responsibility of TC 58 is administrative oversight for the subcommittees.)

ISO/TC 220, Cryogenic vessels
SCOPE: Standardization in the field of insulated vessels (vacuum or non-vacuum) for the storage and the transport of refrigerated liquefied gases of class 2 of "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods--Model regulations--10th revised edition of the UN," in particular concerning the design of the vessels and their safety accessories, gas/materials compatibility, insulation performance, the operational requirements of the equipment and accessories.
