Celebrating Leadership in the Compressed Gas Industry: The 2024 Morris Gold Award
The Morris Gold Award is a prestigious honor within the compressed gas industry, presented periodically to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and participation in CGA Canada. This year, the Compressed Gas Association is proud to announce Yves Cote of Messer Canada as the 2024 recipient.
A Legacy of Excellence: Morris A. Gold
Established in 2001, the award was originally named the CGA Canada Recognition Award but was renamed in 2002 in honor of Morris A. Gold, a dedicated member of the Compressed Gas Association from 1979 until his retirement in 2001. Morris, who represented Hydro-Flex Canada, served as Chairman of CGA Canada in 1985 and as the only Canadian member on the CGA Board of Directors from 1988 through 1999. During his tenure, Morris used his leadership role to advocate for CGA Canada and mentor junior members. He is fondly remembered not only for his technical contributions but also for his ability to capture the personal and historical moments of CGA events through his photography.
In recognition of his lifelong dedication, Morris was granted honorary lifetime membership in the association in December 2001.
Honoring Yves Cote: The 2024 Morris Gold Award Recipient
At the 2024 CGA Canada Annual Meeting, held on September 10-11 in Québec City, Québec, Yves Cote was named the latest recipient of the Morris Gold Award. A long-standing member of CGA committees, Yves has contributed over 20 years of service to the association. In 2021, he took on the role of Chairman of the CGA Canada Transportation Committee, providing leadership and technical expertise.
Among his many achievements, Yves was instrumental in reviewing technical translation guidelines to ensure their accuracy and appropriateness for French-speaking employees and stakeholders across Canada. His commitment to both official languages has helped elevate the standard of professional oversight within the Canadian CGA community, benefiting countless workers and managers across the industry.
Though Yves was unable to attend the 2024 Annual Meeting, the award was graciously accepted on his behalf by Michael Braidford, Vice Chair of the Canadian Executive Committee, and fellow representative of Messer Canada.
Recognizing Contributions to the Industry
The Morris Gold Award stands as a testament to the invaluable contributions of industry leaders like Morris Gold and Yves Cote. Their dedication, expertise, and passion have made a lasting impact on the compressed gas industry in Canada and beyond.
Congratulations to Yves Cote on this well-deserved recognition. We thank him for his continued commitment to CGA and to the safety and advancement of our industry.
