October was a busy month for ISO meetings!

During the month of October 2019, four ISO groups of interest to CGA members held their annual plenary meetings.

On Thursday, October 3, ISO/TC 58/SC 2, Cylinder fittings, met at CSA’s offices in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This subcommittee is responsible for developing International Standards on the design and testing of cylinder valves and fittings. These standards specify the threads, the outlet connections and the valve guards and caps. The concerned valves are for industrial and medical gas cylinders, microelectronic applications, and LPG gas cylinders. They also develop International Standards for test methods for toxicity, tissue corrosiveness, fire potential and oxidizing ability of gases.

On Friday, October 4, ISO/TC 58, Gas cylinders, also met at CSA’s offices. This Technical Committee is responsible for developing International Standards on the design and use of cylinders and their appurtenances.

During this meeting, Rich Craig was recognized for his leadership during his 9-year tenure as Chair of ISO/TC 58/SC 4. He will step down as Chair on December 31, 2019, and Rob Early will assume this role on January 1, 2020.
