Standards Council of Canada Grants CGA Initial Accreditation

November 4, 2022

In 2021, as part of the effort to establish CGA as a leader in the hydrogen space, CGA began the process of becoming a recognized standards development organization (SDO) accredited by Standards Council of Canada (www.scc.ca). The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) leads and facilitates the development and use of national and international standards and accreditation services in order to meet the needs of Canadian industry, government, and consumers.

In 2022, after completing an extensive application process and a 2-day assessment, SCC granted initial accreditation to CGA as part of its Standards Development Organization Accreditation Program (SDOAP). CGA is now one of only 13 organizations to be accredited by SCC as an SDO. CGA will be responsible for the development, publication, maintenance, and promotion of publications that are developed into National Standards of Canada (NSC) to address the ever improving safe, secure, and environmentally responsible practices in the manufacture, transportation, storage, transfilling, use, and disposal of industrial, food, and medical gases and their containers.

CGA has also been accredited as an SDO by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) since 1985. If you have any questions about the development of National Standards of Canada, please contact Kristy Mastromichalis at kmastromichalis@cganet.com.
