The compressed gas industry is evolving rapidly. New markets, emerging gases, shifting regulatory landscapes, and advances in technology require CGA to operate with greater accessibility, agility, and visibility than ever before.
CGA is pleased to announce the release of its 2026–2028 Strategic Plan—a focused, action-oriented roadmap that expands CGA’s influence, accelerates innovation, and delivers greater value to members and stakeholders across the compressed gas ecosystem.
A committee of CGA members and staff developed the 2026–2028 plan. The plan preserves CGA’s commitment to technically credible, consensus-based standards while strengthening technology-enabled discoverability, regulatory engagement, and competitive positioning so CGA can better serve members, regulators, and the public.
Strategic Pillars at a Glance
Grounded in CGA’s core mission of safety, education, and industry stewardship, the plan establishes priorities and tactics across six strategic pillars that will guide CGA’s work over the next three years.
Publications
CGA will drive adoption and use of its publications among members, nonmembers, and materially impacted parties through targeted outreach, reseller optimization, and improved usage tracking.
Knowledge Transfer
CGA will deliver audience-driven education in scalable live and on-demand formats, strengthen technical summit offerings, and formalize knowledge capture across technical committees.
Engagement
CGA will grow and diversify participation on technical committees, modernize committee processes to support asynchronous collaboration, and attract new member companies from emerging sectors.
Agility
CGA will improve its ability to identify and respond quickly to national regulatory issues and will create fast-tracked pathways for standards development in rapidly evolving areas.
Impact
CGA will expand its influence in codes, national and international standards, and regulations through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and harmonization efforts.
Competitive Positioning
CGA will clarify and communicate its unique value, monitor competing providers, and modernize technology platforms to improve security, usability, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Initiatives and Near-Term Actions
To bring the strategic plan to life, CGA will launch several initiatives beginning in 2026. Key actions include:
- AI-powered discovery: CGA will implement an AI-enabled
knowledge management tool that makes standards and guidance easier to find and
use, allowing engineers and safety teams to quickly locate relevant information
without navigating multiple PDFs. - Faster standards pathways: CGA will design an expedited
development framework to accelerate critical standards as markets evolve. - Enhanced committee meeting value: CGA will pivot committees
to a more strategy-focused structure, increasing effectiveness and creating
more engaging meeting environments. - Regulatory engagement: CGA will assign dedicated staff
liaisons and centralize tracking of national regulatory and legislative issues
to protect and advance industry interests. - Education modernization: CGA will redevelop the Technical
Summit, expand the Young & Emerging Professionals Summit series to support
year-round learning, and audit on-demand resources to improve quality and
reach. - Targeted outreach: CGA will launch segmented marketing
campaigns and stakeholder discussions to increase adoption in priority sectors
such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and specialty gases. - Technology and IP protection: CGA will strengthen
cybersecurity reviews, deploy tools to detect unauthorized use of CGA
intellectual property, and build internal dashboards for real-time business
intelligence.
CGA has scheduled these and other tactics across 2026–2028, with defined initiation milestones to ensure steady progress and measurable outcomes.
Next Steps
Over the next three years, CGA will become easier to work with, quicker to respond, and more visible where it matters most. Members will see new ways to learn, new tools to access guidance, and expanded opportunities to shape standards that directly affect their businesses.
The 2026–2028 Strategic Plan serves as a practical, member-centered blueprint for strengthening safety, expanding CGA’s reach, and modernizing how the association operates. In the coming months, CGA will share implementation timelines, opportunities to participate in pilots and listening sessions, and resources to help organizations benefit from the plan’s initiatives.
