CGA is home to a prestigious awards program that recognizes member excellence in fleet safety, improvements to personnel safety, and advancements in environmental excellence. We are also proud to recognize individuals who have played a significant role in our committee structure.

Fleet Safety Excellence Awards
Recognizes outstanding safety performance among the industry’s bulk and cylinder truck delivery fleets. The award is based on a CGA member company’s total Vehicle Accident Frequency Rate. There are four categories for this award, two each for Bulk Vehicle Fleets and Cylinder Vehicle Fleets.
Who’s eligible: Any CGA member company with bulk and cylinder truck delivery fleets that submits to CGA.
Leonard Parker Pool Safety Awards
Recognizes companies with the greatest improvement in safety performance during the previous two years, and are based upon the total recordable case incidence rates as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). There are two divisions of the award based on employee exposure hours.
Who’s eligible: Any CGA member company that reports its annual occupational injury and illness experience for its facilities in the United States and Canada to CGA for the award year and the previous four consecutive years.
Charles H. Glasier Safety Award
Recognizes an individual in the compressed gas industry in recognition of his or her safety leadership through their participation in the Compressed Gas Association.
Who’s eligible: Any employee of a CGA member company in good standing may be nominated.
Who demonstrates:
- Safety leadership in the compressed gas industry;
- Activities that promote industry safety as part of the individual’s company responsibilities. (For example: safety and training videos, inventions for product handling, innovations in safety programs, security, etc.);
- Safety contributions in the form of Association activities on committees, task forces, or special projects, work on national code writing, presentations at safety seminars, etc.
Environmental Recognition Awards
Recognizes good environmental practices as well as promotes environmental awareness and improvements within companies and the industry. Highlights companies that demonstrate environmental excellence through environmental accomplishments going above and beyond regulatory requirements.
Who’s eligible: Any facility, team, or employee of a CGA member company in good standing that has conducted an environmentally beneficial activity/project within North America and submits to CGA.
Morris Gold Award
Recognizes an individual within the compressed gas industry for their outstanding leadership and participation in CGA Canada.
Who’s eligible: Any employee of a CGA member company in good standing may be nominated.
Who demonstrates:
- Leadership and participation in technical committee work as a Member, Vice Chair, or Chair.
- Contributions to CGA as a spokesperson and supporter within and outside of his or her company. These contributions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
(a) economic improvements, measured as value-added or cost-avoidance;
(b) identifiable improvements in safety, communications, member participation, or other areas;
(c) public or government relations improvements; or
(d) advancing CGA issues through work in other associations or affiliations.
- Longevity of participation in CGA Canada.
- Recognition by peers.
New Committee Member of the Year Award
CGA’s continued success relies not only on the continued participation of long-standing committee members, but also on new contributors. This award recognizes the important role that new committee participants play in the committee process. The individual is recognized for their character, commitment, and contribution to uphold and further the mission of the CGA—to develop and promote safety standards and safe practices for the industrial gas industry.
H. Emerson Thomas Award for Lifetime Service to CGA
Recognizes an individual involved in CGA activities for their leadership in standards development, safety procedures, and/or regulatory affairs.
CGA & GAWDA Distributor Safety Award
Recognizes participating GAWDA distributor member companies that have shown the greatest improvement in safety performance during the previous two years. The Distributor Safety Award is intended to promote safety awareness as an extension of both CGA and GAWDA’s safety missions. There are two divisions of the award.
Who’s eligible: Any GAWDA distributor member company that reports its annual occupational injury and illness experience to CGA for the award year and the previous four consecutive years.
