CGA Hosts Inaugural Hill Day in Washington, D.C.

On October 1, 2025, members of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) participated in the organization’s first annual Hill Day, bringing industry leaders to Capitol Hill to advocate for the compressed gas industry and discuss key policy issues affecting safety, innovation, and the economy.

Throughout the day, CGA members met with lawmakers and congressional staff to advance four high-priority legislative priorities—each supporting the multifaceted needs of the compressed gas industry.

  1. Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety and Oversight Improvement Act (H.R. 1182, S. 2320)
CGA members voiced strong support for this legislation, which enhances public safety and strengthens oversight of the U.S. compressed gas industry through improved inspection processes and enforcement measures.
  2. Protecting and Enhancing Public Access to Codes Act (H.R. 4072)
CGA representatives outlined the importance of preserving the ability of standards development organizations (SDOs) to continue creating life-saving safety standards while ensuring these standards remain accessible to the public.
  3. 45Q Tax Credit Access for CO₂ Utilization
In coordination with the CGA-led CO₂ Solutions Coalition, members advocated for clear access to 45Q tax credits for carbon utilization projects—ensuring these efforts receive the same treatment as sequestration under current law.
  4. Support for the SEMI Investment Act (S. 1642)
CGA members highlighted the critical role industrial and specialty gas producers play in the semiconductor supply chain and voiced support for this legislation, which would extend tax incentives to upstream material suppliers essential to semiconductor manufacturing.

Despite the ongoing government shutdown, CGA members demonstrated their commitment to advancing meaningful discussions with Congress about safety standards, workforce development, and emerging technologies. The compressed gas industry plays a vital role in powering healthcare, clean energy, manufacturing, and countless applications essential to daily life—and it is imperative that policymakers hear directly from those who make that possible.
