CGA’s 2025 Canada Annual Meeting: Two Days of Standards Work, Recognition, and New Energy in Niagara-on-the-Lake

September 9–10, 2025 | Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

CGA’s 2025 Canada Annual Meeting (CAM) brought our Canadian committees together for two productive, high-energy days of collaboration and celebration. The program featured meetings for all six Canadian committees, a keynote luncheon, the Canada Awards Banquet, and the Annual Meeting of the Members—plus plenty of time to reconnect with peers across the industry.

At a glance

Committees that met: Canadian Executive; Canadian Cylinder Specifications; Canadian Health, Safety, and Environment; Canadian Medical, Food, & Beverage Gases & Equipment; Canadian Pressure Vessels & Piping Systems; Canadian Transportation.

YEP momentum: Young & Emerging Professionals (YEPs) made up one quarter of attendees, a share that keeps growing.

Keynotes that connected industry and education

At Tuesday’s luncheon, Brock Husak (Advanced Manufacturing Scientist, Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre at Niagara College) showcased applied research projects—including product development with 3D printing—demonstrating how WAMIC supports local industry innovation.\

Next, Wayne Toth (Coordinator, Motive Power Programs, Niagara College) outlined the College’s apprenticeship pathways preparing talent for vehicles powered by traditional and alternative fuels, including hydrogen. He also highlighted the College’s state-of-the-art Green Automotive Technology Lab, among the first of its kind at Canadian colleges.

YEPs take the mic

Before Tuesday’s general reception, Joe Tomlin (Admiral Valve LLC), Chair of the YEP Networking Task Force, encouraged YEPs to plug into both the Canadian committees and CGA’s base committees. He also asked Chairs and Vice Chairs to share specific opportunities for emerging leaders to contribute—fueling the pipeline of future committee leadership.

Celebrating excellence at the Canada Awards Banquet

The Canada Awards Banquet brought members together to recognize the 2025 Morris Gold Award recipient, Jean-Luc Boutin (Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.).

Michael Braidford (Messer Canada), Chair of the Canadian Executive Committee, detailed Jean-Luc’s long-standing contributions, including service as Chair of the Canadian Executive Committee, the Canadian Pressure Vessels & Piping Systems Committee, and two terms with the Hazardous Materials Codes Committee—plus extensive participation across CGA events and work on more than 44 work items. Colleagues from Air Products were on hand to cheer as he accepted the award.

Annual Meeting of the Members: friendly competition included

Michael Braidford also led Wednesday morning’s Annual Meeting of the Members over breakfast—with a light-hearted shout-out to those who traveled the farthest:

  • 1st: Chase Kuziw (Air Products Canada Ltd.) from Alberta—by air; by car it would be ~33 hours (and a very long walk!).
  • 2nd/3rd (tie): Chad Vosepjka and Beth McCall (Chart Industries) from New Prague, Minnesota.
  • Special prize: Rob Crabtree (Messer Canada)—a quick 37-minute drive, but still worthy of applause.

Committee work wrapped—and a fond farewell

General committee meetings concluded by midday Wednesday, followed by the Canadian Executive Committee. The CEX recognized Kim Greenwood (Linde Canada Inc.) with thanks and best wishes as she announced her retirement at the end of September.

CAM 2025 delivered meaningful progress on Canadian committee work, new connections across the industry, and a strong showing from emerging leaders—all set against the charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
