Committee Spotlight: Government Affairs

Chair: Mike Walsh, EspriGasVice Chair:
Brian Heindl, Linde

The CGA Government Affairs Committee (GAC) plays a crucial role as the intermediary between the organization and governmental bodies, advocating for policies that support both CGA’s commitment to safety and it’s strategic objectives. The committee monitors legislative and regulatory changes - primarily at the federal level, engages with policymakers, and advises the CGA Board of Directors on public policy strategies. By fostering relationships with key stakeholders, the GAC ensures that the organization’s interests are effectively represented.

Operating within the CGA’s governance framework, the GAC convenes regularly to evaluate developments and refine advocacy strategies as needed. Among its notable activities, the committee oversees the ongoing efforts of the CO2 Solutions Coalition to ensure a safe and reliable supply of CO2 for many critical applications in today’s society.  Additionally, the GAC has advocated for various legislative measures, including the Pro Codes Act, the Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety and Oversight Improvement Act, and the SEMI Investment Act.

The committee continues to monitor industry trends and developments to ensure that CGA remains at the forefront of safety and regulatory compliance. The next GAC meeting will take place during the CGA annual meeting in Savannah, Georgia, and all CGA members are welcome to attend.
