Every June, the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) joins organizations across the country in recognizing National Safety Month—a critical time to refocus on the importance of workplace and public safety. This annual observance, led by the National Safety Council, highlights how we can work together to prevent injuries, protect employees, and safeguard our communities.
According to the NSC, preventable injuries—commonly referred to as “accidents”—are the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. For those of us in the compressed gas industry, this statistic is a powerful reminder that safety isn’t a one-time initiative—it’s a daily commitment.
Why Safety Matters in the Compressed Gas Industry
From medical oxygen and industrial hydrogen to welding gases and specialty applications, compressed gases touch nearly every aspect of modern life. But with great utility comes great responsibility.
That’s why CGA and our member companies are committed to:
- Sharing industry-leading safety standards and best practices
- Promoting a culture of safety across every job site
- Reducing risks associated with the storage, handling, and transportation of compressed gases
