Kelvin N. Dixon, Senior Vice President of Global Risk Management at Nippon Sanso Matheson, Inc., has been elected Chair of the Compressed Gas Association’s (CGA) Board of Directors. Dixon succeeds Eric Rottier, Chief Operating Officer of Air Water America, Inc, who handed off this leadership role at CGA’s 113th Annual Meeting, CGA26.
Dixon brings more than 30 years’ experience spanning enterprise risk management, safety, organizational governance, and strategic planning. His career reflects a strong record of driving measurable improvements through engagement with key regulatory agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Department of Homeland
Security (DHS), and Department of Transportation (DOT).
Before joining Matheson in 2006, Dixon served as Director of Environmental Health and Safety at General Chemical Corporation.
Dixon is a retired United States Navy Rear Admiral (2‑Star) with more than 35 years of combined military and civilian leadership experience. During four tours of duty in the Middle East, primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan, he built and led coalitions with diplomats and military leaders to achieve critical mission objectives.
He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Studies, a Masters degree in Business Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His professional certifications include Six Sigma Green Belt, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Private Pilot. Dixon is also a contributing author to Saltwater Leadership: A Primer on Leadership for the Junior Sea‑Service Officer.
Dixon will be joined by Francesco Maione, President, Americas, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., who steps into the role of Vice Chair of the CGA Board of Directors. With decades of experience and a deep commitment to safety and operational excellence, Maione brings a valuable perspective to CGA’s leadership team.
“Kelvin Dixon’s long-time service on the Board of Directors has prepared him well to take the helm at CGA for the challenges and opportunities on the horizon. Our safety mission is now being complemented more and more by proactive government relations, and Kelvin clearly understands how this will move the industry ahead,” said CGA President and CEO Rich Gottwald. “I look forward to seeing his leadership in action."
