Registration
Registration is now open for the 2023 CGA Canada Annual Meeting.
Everyone attending meetings or events scheduled in conjunction with the 2023 CGA Canada Annual Meeting must register for the meeting and pay any applicable fees. Please remember to RSVP through your CGA personal page for specific committee meetings you plan to attend. An RSVP to a committee meeting does not automatically register you for this event.

Who should participate in the seminar?
Registration for this seminar is open to CGA members, GAWDA Subscription program participants, and members of CGA affiliated/partner organizations.
Registration Fees
CGA Member Registration: $0 for registrations received by August 14, 2023
There is no meeting registration fee for members registering by the early registration deadline.
Registration includes access to all meetings (except those marked “committee members only”) and the following group meals held at the meeting hotel: Young and Emerging Professionals Welcome Reception on Monday, lunch and the banquet on Tuesday; and breakfast with Annual Session on Wednesday.
After the deadline, a meeting registration fee of $300 (USD) will apply. The late registration fee will be assessed if a person attends a committee meeting and does not register.
Spouse/Significant Other Registration
A registration fee is applicable for your spouse, significant other, or partner to attend the banquet on Tuesday. This $175 (USD) fee covers the estimated food and beverage cost for the function.
This registration category may be added at the end of your registration for a spouse, significant other, or partner who is not in an industry-related occupation. A significant other who works within the industry for a CGA member company may register as a member.
Cancellation/Changes Policy
Cancellations are required regardless of whether a registration fee has been paid or not. All registration cancellations, changes, and requests for refunds must be submitted and confirmed via CGA’s online registration system on or before August 31, 2023. Refunds are subject to a $50 (USD) processing fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after the deadline for any reason.

Substitution Policy
If after registering you are unable to attend the meeting, you may send a substitute. Please notify CGA in writing as soon as possible. Substitutions are allowed for full registrations only.

Speakers
Douglas R. Luciani
Doug joined the CWB Group in 1991 and was appointed President and CEO in August 2006. He is also the Vice-Chair of the CWB Welding Foundation Board of Directors and a Board Director of the Edison Welding Institute (EWI) from the USA.
Doug is a Professional Engineer in the Province (P.Eng.) of Ontario, holds an ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and is the current Past President of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) based out of Italy.
Tom McGaughy
Tom is a recognized expert in experimental fracture mechanics and mechanical and metallurgical evaluation of welds and welded structures. He has directed many projects focused on fatigue and fracture behavior, weld residual stress characterization, failure analysis and fitness-for-service technology. He has co-led programs on evaluating NDE methods for clad piping and performed validation of NDE procedures for offshore structures. He has assisted clients in preparing corporate specifications for fracture toughness and preproduction qualification testing and has been a consultant to the API RP2Z (the API Recommended Practice for Preproduction Qualification for Steel Plates for Offshore Structures) task group on HAZ toughness test procedures. He has also co-led several PRCI projects focused on pipeline corrosion and mechanical damage assessment. His work has focused primarily on oil & gas exploration & production, refining and chemical processing, gas and electric utilities, oil & gas pipelines and steel production and qualification for the oil & gas industry. Over the past two years, he has led advanced fracture mechanics research programs assessing performance of structural steels under high pressure hydrogen gas exposure.
Joshua James
Joshua is the Principal Engineer and Research Leader for the Materials and Structural Integrity groups at EWI. He has extensive experience in materials degradation, electrochemistry, and environmental testing and applies his expertise in both EWI internal research and client projects related to corrosion and materials challenges. Since 2007, he has worked in contract R&D, covering a range of materials degradation issues connected to industrial applications. Josh holds three patents, including one for a corrosion inhibiting coating additive. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications on his research, and he has given myriad presentations on a diverse range of materials and corrosion-related topics.

Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is approximately 2.8 kilometers or 1.7 miles from the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre in Toronto.

TRAIN
Union Pearson Express runs from Pearson Airport to Union Station in downtown Toronto in just 25 minutes. Adult one-way fare from Pearson to Union is $12.35. Trains are running every 15-minutes, seven days a week. Be sure to check the schedules before you travel.

The Pearson Airport car rental counters are located on Level 1 of the Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 parking garages.
RIDE SHARE – Uber
If you use the ride sharing apps Uber, Lyft or Facedrive, you can request a pick-up from Pearson Airport. The licensed ride share providers location is at YYZ Terminal 1 – Ground level – Door Q or P and Terminal 3 – Arrivals Level – Door D, outer curb. The Uber Black and Lyft Lux pickup location at YYZ is Terminal 1 – Door A and Terminal 3 – Door A. Transfers can be booked on the Uber app in advance or upon arrival.
Taxi
The estimated taxi fare from YYZ to the hotel is around $24 CAD or $18 USD.
A taxi from YYZ to Downtown Toronto would take approximately 22 minutes and the standard fare to downtown Toronto varies from $50 CAD ($37 USD) up to $85 CAD ($64 USD). We recommend asking the taxi driver prior leaving the terminal. The fuel surcharge is $4 CAD.
Canadian Customs and Immigration
A valid passport is required for all visitors at all entry points of access to Canada and is mandatory for all flights within North America. At designated points of entry, visitors may in addition also have the option of presenting an enhanced driver’s license (EDL), NEXUS, SENTRI, Global Entry, or FAST/EXPRES enrollment card. Note: EDLs and FAST/EXPRES cards are only available for land and marine crossing, not by AIR.

What to Wear
The dress code for CGA meetings is smart/business casual, coat and tie are optional. Dress for the Awards banquet on Tuesday night is business suit, or coat and tie for men; business or cocktail dress for women.
Indoor meetings and events will be in air-conditioned meeting space, so it is recommended that you bring a light jacket or sweater.
