CGA and California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP) Form Reciprocal Membership

December 7, 2020

We are excited to announce that the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) has established a reciprocal membership with the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP). As a longtime recognized leader in the field, CaFCP promotes expanding the market for fuel cell electric vehicles powered by hydrogen to help create a cleaner, more energy-diverse future with no-compromises zero emission vehicles.

CGA members are the global leaders in the production, storage, distribution, and application of industrial gases, including hydrogen.

As part of our strategic approach to hydrogen, CGA is actively looking for opportunities to work more closely with other, like-minded organizations that also operate in the hydrogen space. In cases where there is mutual value of participation, we endeavor to establish more formalized relationships with these groups in order to engage more effectively with them and allow them to participate in our work, as appropriate.

CGA and CaFCP believe that our organizations can work together to identify and address gaps and challenges in the hydrogen space. An active relationship with CaFCP provides CGA with access to more hydrogen decision makers who will be critical in development and support of CGA’s hydrogen strategy and future hydrogen safety standards. This relationship also facilitates the development of common positions between CGA and CaFCP for updates to model codes and standards, hazardous materials transport regulations, and ISO standards.

CaCFP and CGA had already been working together informally. Members of CaFCP and CGA participate on several other organizations, such as the National Fire Protection Association’s NFPA 2 technical committee and the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Codes and Standards Coordinating Committee (NHFCCSCC). In this work, we have been able to align positions to improve the hydrogen requirements in external codes and standards. By doing so together, CGA and CaFCP can help to establish a safe and vibrant marketplace for hydrogen.

We anticipate continuing to work together in many ways that will be beneficial to our members and to the producers and users of hydrogen, in general.
