Call for Participants: CGA Young & Emerging Professionals Committee

March 19, 2021

In 2020, the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) initiated a new Young & Emerging Professionals Committee to provide opportunities for CGA member employees age 45 and under to expand their industry knowledge, build relationships, and develop their professional skills. This committee is one of several initiatives CGA is taking to solidify the continued availability of experts needed to support our safety mission.

In its first year the committee grew to over 70 participants and supported the development of programming related to technical education, leadership and professional development, networking, and new member onboarding.

They held the first ever Young & Emerging Professionals Summit, a multi-week program featuring 10 technical webinars, which attracted more than 2,000 attendees from around the world. Additional events included a fireside chat with industry executives, a career development workshop, informal networking sessions, and more. All of these events were available to committee members at no charge.

“Engaging young and emerging professionals in CGA is an essential part of combating knowledge loss and resource drain. Participation in this committee has many benefits for individuals and value to their company…”

As the Committee kicks off our 2021 programming, we would like to ask all CGA members for your help in connecting us with your employees who are age 45 and younger or new to the industry.

Engaging young and emerging professionals in CGA is an essential part of combating knowledge loss and resource drain. Participation in this committee has many benefits for individuals and value to their company, including:

  • exposure to a wide range of technical topics, including historic lessons learned and the impact those experiences have had on industry standards and best practices
  • growth of leadership and other professional skills through participation on the committee, project management of new programs, presentations to the committee and event audiences, etc.
  • development of a network of peers and subject matter experts in their area of the industry

Many of the industry’s young and emerging professionals are not yet involved with CGA and might not be aware that this committee exists. CGA members, please share this information within your organization, and feel free to contact Tom Deary for additional information (see his email info at the bottom of the infographic below). Thank you!
