CGA Safe Facility Awards Honor Top Safety Performers at 2024 Safety Awards Banquet

New Orleans, LA – April 9, 2024 – The Safe Facility Performance Awards, a hallmark of safety excellence within the compressed gas industry, were bestowed upon distinguished recipients during the prestigious 2024 Safety Awards Banquet held in New Orleans. Hosted by the Compressed Gas Association (CGA), the event celebrated the outstanding commitment to safety demonstrated by U.S. and Canadian facilities of CGA member companies.

The awards ceremony, a highlight of the evening, showcased the remarkable achievements of facilities that have maintained an exemplary safety record, underscoring their unwavering dedication to creating and sustaining safe work environments. This year’s ceremony recognized 394 facilities for reaching new safety milestones, a testament to the industry’s collective pursuit of safety excellence.

Rich Gottwald, CGAPresident and CEO, commended the recipients, stating, “Safety is at the core of every company that makes up this association, so it is incredible to see the number of facilities recognized in every tier of this program. Thank you all for your ongoing commitment to safety!”

The recipients were acknowledged across various levels, symbolizing their remarkable safety milestones:

Bronze Level – Recognizing facilities with 250,000 hours or 5 years without any lost time injury.

Silver Level – Honoring facilities with 500,000 hours or 10 years with no lost time injury.

Gold Level – Commending facilities with 750,000 hours or 15 years of incident-free operations.

Gold 1-Star to Gold 4-Star Levels – Celebrating facilities achieving milestones ranging from 1 million to 1.75 million hours without any lost time injury.

The ceremony culminated in the presentation of the most prestigious awards, the Platinum, Platinum 1-Star, and Palladium Level Safe Facility Performance awards. Notable recipients included:

  • Air Liquide/Airgas: Recognized for two facilities at the Platinum Level and one at the Palladium level, marking decades of impeccable safety performance.
    • Platinum: Air Liquide Canada, Moncton Fill Plant, Moncton, NB
    • Platinum: Airgas Gulf Coast, LaPorte Plant, La Porte TX
    • Palladium: Airgas Merchant Gases, Kent Production Facility, Kent WA
  • Air Products and Chemicals: Acknowledged for their exemplary safety record at two Platinum Level facilities.
    • Platinum: La Porte Facility, La Porte TX
    • Platinum: Plaquemine Facility, Addis LA
  • Linde: Honored for maintaining exceptional safety standards at two Platinum 1-Star facilities.
    • Platinum 1-Star: Curtis Bay Facility, Curtis Bay, MD
    • Platinum 1-Star: Fife Facility, Fife, WA
  • Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc.: Celebrated for their outstanding safety achievements at two Platinum Level facilities.
    • Platinum: Branch 08, Glen Burnie, MD
    • Platinum: Branch 09, Waynesboro, VA

Each recipient was invited to the stage to receive their award, accompanied by applause and expressions of admiration from peers and industry leaders. The event concluded with heartfelt gratitude extended to all participants for their relentless pursuit of safety excellence.
