CGA’s Director of Marketing, Communications, and Events, Paul Pflieger, recently had the pleasure of sitting down with one of CGA’s newest team members, Tanisha Hurey, to delve into her background, aspirations, and insights. Join us as we get to know her better and explore her journey into the exciting world of CGA.

1. What inspired you to join the CGA team, and what excites you most about this new opportunity?

I knew CGA was the place for me when my interview felt like reconnecting with old friends after a long time. The hiring managers’ dedication and enthusiasm for CGA resonated in every word. The warm, homey feeling convinced me that this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

2. Can you share a bit about your background and how your previous experiences have prepared you for your role here?

My journey in association work began in 2018 at the American Board of Physical Therapy. Over the years, I’ve garnered invaluable experience, working with members and committees. My time at the American Petrochemical and Fuel Manufacturers further honed my skills in Process Safety, overseeing six regions across the U.S. This collective experience of six years in associations and committee collaboration has equipped me to contribute effectively to CGA.

3. In the spirit of team building, what’s one interesting fact or hobby about yourself that your new colleagues might not know yet?

Beyond the professional realm, I enjoy indulging in DIY projects. Whether it’s painting pictures, carving pumpkins, or crafting homemade candles, it’s my way of unwinding and expressing creativity.

4. What drew you to our company culture, and how do you hope to contribute to it?

The collaborative nature of the team at CGA stood out to me. The willingness to assist one another creates a positive environment. I look forward to bringing fresh ideas to the table and filling in wherever needed to further enhance our dynamic.

5. As you embark on this new journey, what goals do you have for your personal and professional growth within the company?

On a personal level, I aim to complete courses in editorial reviews and continue strengthening my skills. Professionally, I’m excited about the opportunity for growth within the Compressed Gas Industry.

6. We all know first days can be memorable—can you tell us a funny or unique story from your first day on the job?

While my first day didn’t have any standout funny moments, the warm welcome and smooth onboarding process made it a memorable experience.

7. Collaboration is key here. How do you approach working with others to achieve common goals and foster a positive team dynamic?

My approach involves active listening to understand perspectives, grasping the bigger picture, and finding common ground. This ensures effective teamwork and a positive atmosphere.

8. What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone starting a new role, based on your own experiences?

Advocate for yourself, speak up without fear, and remember that failure is a lesson to learn from, not the end of the road.

9. Lastly, what message would you like to share with your new colleagues as they welcome you to the team?

I am thrilled to collaborate on future projects, grow, and advance my career within CGA. Looking forward to discovering the collective wisdom and insights that each team member brings to this well-oiled machine.

In joining our team, Tanisha brings a wealth of experience, a passion for collaboration, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. We look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly make within CGA. Welcome aboard!
